H.B. ASSOCIATION’S TOURNEY. THIS MORNING’S RESULTS. The annual tournament of the Hawke’s Bay Lawn Tennis Association was continued at the Hawke’s Bay Tennis Club’s courts, Napier, this morning, when some of the semi-finals and finals of the championship and handicap events were reached. The most interesting match of the morning was the final of the ladies’ championship singles, in which Mrs. Hassall met Miss Nancy Howell. The latter, who returned to form after an “off” spell or two or three weeks, had no difficulty in gaining the provincial singles title, defeating her opponent in the first two sets by 6—3, 6 —4. Both ladies played excellent tennis, but Miss Howerl succeeded in out-placing Mrs. Hassall m the second set. Tho final of the indies’ handicap doubles was won by Mrs. Hawke and Miss Saxby, who defeated Misses Benson and Guthrie with a handicap of 18 points. The following were the results of this mornin’s play:— CHAMiTONSHIPS. MEN’S SINGLES. Third round —Ward beat Dvr, 6—3, 6—l. Semi-final—Aldred beat Ward, 6--J, 6-0. Semi-Finals.—Forbes beat Elliott, I—6, 6—5, 6—4; Aldred beat Ward, 6—l, 6—o. , LADIES’ DOUBLES. Semi-finals—Mesdames Co.torill and Hassall beat Misses A. and J. Ormond. 6—2, 3—6, B—6; Misses Glenny and Howell beat Mrs. Mawson and Miss Lopdell, 6—l, 6—5. Semi-Finals. —Mesdames Cottcrill anl Hassall beat Misses A. and J. Ormond, 6 —2, 3 —6, B—6;8 —6; Misses Glenny and Howell beat Mrs. Mawson and Miss Lopdell, 6--1, 6—5. LADIES’ SINGLES. Semi-finals —Miss Howell but Mrs. Cotterill, 6—3 ,6 —3; Mrs. Hassall beato Mrs. Cottcrill, 6—3, 6—3; Mrs. Hassall beat Mrs. Mawson, 6--2, ll— 2. Final—Miss Howell beat Mrs. Hassall, 6—3, 6—4, MEN’S DOUBLES. Semi-finals—Aldred and Forbes beat Elliott and Scott, 6—4, 6—5; Ward and Robinson beat Lowry and Wheeler o—4,0 —4, 6—4.
