WINTER RELIEF FUND

LOCAL BODIES’ CO-OPERATION. ADVICE FROM MINISTER. The Governor-General’s Winter Relief Fund, particulars of which were contained in a special message last Monday, is progressing since Their Excellencies announced their intention to donate £lOO and 12 fat sheep as the first contribution towards the fund. The Mayors of Hastings and Napier have received telegrams from the Minister of Employment (the Ron. Adam Hamilton), in which he states that until further definite detailed arrangements can be made he would be grateful to have their Worships cooperate with other local bodies in the Hawke’s Bay district. The Minister asks the Mayors to join with other executives of local bodies to “receive, store and hold till advised later regarding distribution of nny produce or other goods donated to the Governor-General’s Relief Fund.” The message added that the Minister was asking the various freezing com panics to accept live stock.
