WAIPUKURAU RACES

EASTER MONDAY MEETING. REVIEW OF THE FIELDS. The acceptances in 80 per cent, of the races at the Waipukurau meeting on Easter Monday are excellent and the racing has every promise of being top-hole. With the form revealed today at Hastings speculators will have good form to guide in their final summing up. Maioen Race, 7 furlongs: lareha on his home track should be able to run into a place at least m this small field. liuKemauu is one that should prove "ell north examining to-day in his running as tho experience gained should stand to him. langahoe has no form but raced to-day. Sir Nigel was not started to-day and on private form should be m the picture on Monday. Bradman has racing condition on his side which should stand to him over this distance. The tote may read Sir Nigel, Bradman, Hukemanu. Hatuina Hack, j furlongs; Grumpy has 81bs. less on her back than when she won at I'atnatua over the same distance. Slippery, as his name suggests, goes a merry live, Chief Marionette races to-day at Feildiug, so will prove whether or not her form at Manawatu was true. Stitch enters arguments with the right credentials. Right Bower is a newcomer and, as he ran third in the Redding Stakes over this distance, appeals. Tiger Gam should hud five too short. King Reg is a possibility. Joy Stick on this firm track will make it merry. Grand Sport may not make the trip but, should he, he will have a few on his side. I’m Alone disappointed at Pahiatua but at his best would not be over-rushed. Master Frank may do better over five than six. Vonia Park has the best credentials of the remainder. On this track the inside horses at the fivefurlong post have a big advantage and, providing the following draw a decent marble, they may carry most money: Slippery, Crumpy and Right Bower.” Huataniwha Hack, 1} mile; Chocksay with nine stone has a job in front ot her. Sabatini should improve further on to-day’s race. Anemometer has dis appointed at the last two meetings •u but over this distance should go close to making amends. Sylvan jell will be liked a little . Wedding Bells is a sticker, whilst Te Aute, on tonn, will not appeal. Sabatini, Anemometer and Chocksay may be tho order of favouritism. Waipukurau Cup, ft mile; Practically all these contestants will be seen out in action to-day. My Own will be ■ one to-day that will cause interest on account of the report that she is herself again. This track will suit White ! bang. V alsier, as mentioned earlier in ' the week, is a fit horse and will stand

two races so close as well as anything ! engaged. Royal Parade needs to improve on recent track efforts. Kinsel at the weight will have a host of admirers. Sabatini will start in the previous event whilst Princess. Bell is an outside possibility but she, too, may be reserved for a different event. Kinsel, My Own and White Fang, if racing well to-day, will be in demand. Oringi Handicap, 5 furlongs: For two and three-year-olds. Slippery, if started, w ill be in keen demand. Margaret Rose is hard to recommend. \ onia Park goes a good five and whoever beats her will have been travelling. McHeath, if running at all well to-day, will find favour. Oil Painting will not be a starter. Cullus will be in the picture. Celerimus has yet to show up but is a possibility. Three that may appeal are: Vonia Park, Slippery and Cullus, Ladies' Bracelet, 1 mile 3 furlongs: Paleta was once a good sprinter and should in this class run out the distance if at all forward, but he must be taken on trust Kinsel, if he starts here, may monopolise the betting. Miss Hastings is none too sound so, on the hard track, will be at a big disadvantage. Gold Ruler must be one of the toughest. Thrasher should in this class be there or thereabouts. Mon Roi, with the doctor in the saddle, will have a host of Waipukurau admirers. Tameterangi is a solid old cuss that will not bo disregarded. Revel my do best of the remaining trio. Failing the starting of Kinsel the best backed may be Cold Ruler, Mon Rol, and Thrasher, PUr'inu Hack, 6 furlongs: Chief Marionette with nine stone has been set a stiff task. Stitch is lit and must appeal strongly Princess Bell may be the actual favourite. Anemometer is a possibility. Hybiscus will not lack the

...VIIVLUIJ auppuiu. UUJ' CLICK aim Master Frank read the best of the others. Hybiscus, Princess Bell and Anemometer look like carrying most of the investments. Flying Handicap, 6 furlongs: Speed, if taken up, will have a queue waiting at the window-. Kaihoro on her home track always races well. Paleta may be suited to this distance better than in the Ladies’ Handicap. False Scent is a good sprinter that will have revealed his form this evening. Freehold, if in tho mood, would he more than ail outside possibility. I’m Alone makes up tho field. Recovery for the day mav be looked to in Speed. False Scent and Kaihoro. To-day’s winners will be re-handi-capped for Monday's races, which may put a different complexion on some of the events. HASTINGS TROTTING TEAMS. SOME TO RACE AT HAWERA. Trotting trainers at Hastings have been busy with their horses in view of the meetings this month at Hawera, Taranaki and Wanganui. J. H. Lloyd’s team comprises Capilano, Luminate. Le Chenault, Manco and the maiden I rotter, Mute. Luminate, Manco and l.e Chenault will race at Hawera. T. Agnew is taking Golden Oaks and Big Blaze, both of whom have made good progress. W Head’s representatives, Rector, Scrip and Town Guard, have also done well. J. West ha ß a maiden by Hal Jumpr from Miss Audrey, who'

will race at Wanganui. He is a half, brother to Native Prince and will race as Audrey’s Boy D. Hislop, who sue. cessfully raced Fliton some seasons

ago,- is working Sidey, by Hal Junior from a Jewel Chimes mare and a maiden by Worthy Bingen from Mabe] Dillon. With the racing on the circuit the horses should be well forward for the Hawke’s Bay meeting on June 1 and 3.
