AMONGST THE STORE SHEEP. IMPROVEMENT IN SOME LAMB LINES. Quality was somewhat mixed in the store sheep pens af the Stortford Lodge saleyards yesterday. Included amongst the entries were lambs from Olrig Station, Motonui, Otane, wethers from Mr R. B. Burgess. Puketitiri, and lambs from Mr Mitchell, Eskdale. The market was generally unchanged, although ewe lines wfte slightly easier in some eases, and a few lines of second quality lambs realised slightly improved values. The following are some of the lines that were offered, and the prices paid, from which farmers will be able to judge the state of the market:— Down from Waikaremoanjt district, a line of 311 wethers dipped, and in store order, showing signs of travel, sold at 8/6. Two and 4-th. ewes. 11l in the line, a draft of medium framed and light conditioned ewes, running with Southdown rams, passed at 8/6. Good framed, and well woolled, a line of 241 2 and 4-th ewes, with six Southdown rams included in the pen, passed at 9/-. In fat and forward condition, a line of 204 wethers sold at 11/-. On account of Mr F. Hardie, Motonui, a pen of 244 ewe lambs, medium framed and conditioned, well woolled, sold at 9/2. Two hundred and seventy-five in the line, a pen of woolly wether lambs, fair framed and in fat condition, passed at 8/3. Aged ewes, a line of 74 store conditioned ewes, mixed in the mouths and the wool, passed at 3/9. One hundred and twenty-one fat and forward wethers, on account of Mr R. B. Burgess, Puketitiri, big framed and well covered, made 9/10. Five-year ewes, a line of 145, running with Blackface rams, three rams included, fair framed, mixed in the wool, passed at 4/10. One hundred twenty-eight in the line, a pen of fat and forward lambs, of mixed sex. woolly and well covered, passed at 8/4. Light conditioned and big framed, a line of 109 ewes passed at 4/1. Guaranteed sound in the mouth, a line of 115 4 and 5-yr. ewes, running with Southdown rams, passed at 8/5.

One hundred and forty-two mixed age ewes passed at 3/-. A back-country line of sheep, a pen of 203 wether lambs, light conditioned and medium framed, with indifferent wool, sold at 8/- and 7/4. One hundred and fifty 6-yr. ewes, good mouths, well framed, and with a good class of wool, running with three Southdown rams, and carrying plenty of condition, passed at 7/6. Hill-country bred, a line of 71 ewe lambs small framed and light in condition with a poor type of wool sold at 6/9. A similar line of 148 wether . lambs made 5/9. Medium conditioned and fair framed, a draft of 110 wether lambs down from Mr Mitchell, Eskdale, realised 9/1. From the Auckland district, a pen of 70 2 and 4-th. wethers, in fat and forward order, made 9/1. Down from the Wairoa district, a line ’ of 68 wether lambs, fair framed, and medium conditioned, sold at 5/9. From Olrig fetation, a draft of 59 wether lambs sold at 6/6, and a line of ewe lambs made 8/-. Dannevirke ewes, a line of 110 5-yr. ewes, running with Blackface rams, a pen of sound mouthed, good framed and well woolled ewes, carrying medium condition, passed at 8/6. Sixty-nine iu the line, a draft of wethers from Rukamoana, a big frami cd sheep, in store to forward order, passed at 7/-. , Patoka district sheep, a line of 87 2, 4, 6 and 8-th. ewes running with Romney rams, mixed as to mouths and con- , dition, sold at 6/6. The total entry was in the vicinity of ' 7500 store sheep. i
