A request from the dog tax collector that he bo given permission to carry a gun whilst carrying out his duties, was made at the meeting of the Hawke’s Bay County Council yesterday morning, and caused one member to ask, “Does he want it for his own protection?” It was explained that the gun would be used to destroy strays and other unregistered or not wanted dogs.
