THE HAWKE’S BAY EXECUTIVE BUSINESS OF THE MONTH The monthly meeting of. the executive of the Hawke’s Bay War Relief Association was held in Napier last evening, the chairman, Mr J. N. Barrie, presiding over Messrs J. Elder, W. G. F. Frame, H. J. Mackorsey, T. H. Ringland, E. F. Stubbs. Leave of absence was granted to Mr C. H. Critchley. Tho following branch returns were adopted:— Dannevirke, payments £ll7 7s 4d, receipts £BB 19s sd; Hastings, £429 14s 4d, £246 8s 6d; Takapau, £l5 18s 8d; Waipukurau, £l6 9s 24, £2O 9s 8(1; Waipawa, £ 6 16s 3d, £8 17s 8d; Wairoa, £43 6s, £22 15s 3d; Woodville, £2O Is 9d, £l5 14s 4d; Napier, £251 4s 3d, £lO9 16s 2d. Totals, £9OO 17s 9d, £594 Is. Assistance granted to soldiers during the past month amounted to £295 Is Id. The amounts granted to the various branches were shown by tho secretary to be as follows:—Dannevirke branch, 44 soldiers, £34 Ils sd, 4 dependents £11; Hastings, 45 soldiers, £75 19s lOd, 1 dependent, £l6 6s; Takapau, 21 soldiers, £lO 0s 6d; Waipawa (March), 14 soldiers, £6 6s 3d; Waipawa (February) 25 soldiers, £lO 14s 4d; Waipukurau, 8 soldiers £1 13s 3d, 1 dependent, £1; Wairoa, 2 soldiers, 7s; Woodville, 14 soldiers, £l7 10s 9d; Napier, 40 soldiers, £lO9 6s Id, 5 dependents, £l5 15s. Total £295 Is Id. Loans to soldiers, totalling £452 9s sd, were granted as follow: — Dannevirke, 3 soldiers, £25 15s 9d; Hastings, 9 soldiers, £290 6s Id; Waipawa, 1 soldier, 10s; Wairoa, 2 soldiers, £35 18s 3d; Napier, 7 soldiers, £99 19s 4. Total £452 9s sd. Payments on account of other societies, amounting to £4B 0s 2d, were as follow:— Dannevirke, 3 soldiers, £l4 9s; Hastings, 6 soldiers, £27. 7s 2d; Napier, 3 soldiers, £6 4s. Total £4B 0s 2d Advances were refunded in the following instances, the total suin' involved being £347 11s sd:— Dannevirke, 27 soldiers, £54 7s 8d; Hastings, 34 soldiers, £ll2 7s 4d; Waipawa, 2 soldiers, £8 10s lOd; Waipukurau, 3 soldiers, £l6 15s; Wairoa, 6 soldiers, £22 15s 3(1; Woodville, 1 soldier, £2; Napier, 28 soldiers, £l3O 15s 4d. Total £347 Ils sd. The following payments were refunded by other societies:— Dannevirke, 3 soldiers, £10; Hastings, 6 soldiers, £67 4s lOd; Waipukurau, 1 soldier, £2 10s; Napier, 9 soldiers, £47 Bs. Total £127 2s lOd. Interest on loans to soldiers amounted to £75 16s 9d.
