ENCOURAGING RESPONSE. AUSTRALIAN VISITOR GIVES £5O. By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, April 11. It is teamed that the initial response to the Governor-General’s winter relief appeal has been most encouraging. In addition to promises of money, many undertakings have been received to supply livestock and other foodstuffa The mailbag at Government House was exceptionally heavy, and to date about 500 letters and telegrams have been received. An Australian visitor has given £5O in recognition of the kindness received from New Zealand people during his holiday.
