FRUIT EXPORT TRADE
REALISATIONS IN LONDON. PRICE AVERAGES. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated April 8, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— Fruit: S.s. Port Wellington discharging, and fruit being sold. Cox’s Orange, Dunn’s, Lord Wolseley, Ballarat, and Remette du Canada, all sizes and marks, show bitter spot, large fruit extensively. About 50 per cent, sold, including 13,000 cases at Spitefields, where fruit was well received by trade. Prices have been affected by condition and high percentage of large sizes, also heavy supplies of Victorian and American apples. Prices: — Cox’s Orange, 12/- to 22/6; average of sales to date 16/3. Worcester Pearmain (slight waste), 8/9 to 12/3; average of sales to date, 10/6. Dunn’s, 8/6 to 11/-; average of sales to date, 10/-. Lord Wolseley, 8/3 to 11/-; average of sales to date, 9/9. Ballarat, 8/9 to 10/-; average of sales to date, 9/-. Reinette du Canada, 8/3' to 8/9; average of sales to date, 8/9. S.s. Tamaroa consignment practically cleared at the same prices. S.s. Otira discharging April 10, and s.s. Akaroa April 24. SEASON’S FINAL EXPORTS. Heavy shipments of fruit are now leaving the Dominion, mainly for Britain. Due to exchange restrictions shipments for South America are smaller than in past seasons. One ship has just sailed with 12,000 boxes for Montevideo. The Huntingdon, which is now loading, will take 20,000 boxes for Montevideo, 15,000 for Santos, and 15,000, for Rio de Janeiro,
