HANDLING OF CARGO
BREAKWATER AND INNER HARBOUR. DEPORT TO BOARD. Information relating to cargo handled at tho Breakwater and Inner Harbour over a certain period was contained in a statement submitted to yesterday's meeting of tho Napier Harbour Board. The information was ■supplied at the request of Mr A. E. Jull, M.P., and was contained in a report prepared by the board’s wharfinger, Mr H. D. Earney. The report was as follows:— 1. Total bales wool and carcases of meat hauled to tho Breakwater for shipment from 1/10/32 to 1/3/33: BREAKWATER HARBOUR.
Note.—lho amount of haulage charged on meat (£62 15/-) has since been allowed to the freezing companies. 2. Totals of same products shipped from Inner Hqrbour over the same period: INNER HARBOUR.
Note.—No charge for haulage has been levied. The amount of £6BB 11/- is the haulage that would have been charged had the Breakwater rate of 1/- per ton been enforced. The actual cost to the board for hauling meat to Nelson Quay for the period slated above was £299. 3. Total tonnage of cargo handled through tho “E” Shed for tho same period and the total labour and haulage costs thereon:
