N.Z. BUTTER IN CANADA

DUMPING DUTY LEVIED 3 J CENTS PER POUND LEVIED OTTAWA, April 9. A dumping duty against New Zealand butter held in bond in Vancouver will be levied on the same basis as that on which the dump against goods from the United Kingdom is levied, which is the difference between the lixed value of the pound sterling at 4.25 and the average actual exchange rate of sterling on the world market, which is in the neighbourhood of 4.12. As New Zealand currency is lower than sterling, the dumping duty against the butter will bo correspondingly higher. It is estimated here that the amount will be approximately 3J cents per pound. This impost is in addition to tho regular five cents per pound duty. There are about 250 tons in bond.
