GOLF CLUB: ANNUAL MEETING. (Special Representative.) The annual meeting of the Waipukurau Golf Club was held last evening, Mr R. Haldane presiding over a fair attendance In the course of his annual report the president stated: “The past season has been a very satisfactory one, and it is pleasing to note that despite the continued bad times the finances of the club are quite sound. Though the receipts for the past season were £9O 5/4 less than those of the previous season, the expenditure for the same period was reduced by £49 5/8 compared with that of last year, and the bank overdraft has been further reduced by £36 6/11. The excess of assets over liabilities was £452 7/9.” Mr J. Hunter was elected as a new country member. It was decided to recommend the committee to make the captain s versus president’s team match an allday fixture, the losing team to provide lunch. , It was further decided to recommend that, in order to encourage the beginners, first-year golfers should be admitted to the club at a reduced subscription, the reduction to apply to both men and women. Mrs J. E. Reid, who joined the club I’3 years ago as one of the foundation members, was made a life member and was accorded a vote of sympathy iu her illness. The. committee was recommended to approach the lessees of the links with a request for assistance in planting trees on the course. ATHLETIC MEETING. The Waipukurau Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club held an evening meeting at Russell Park last evening. Unfortunately the meeting did not meet with as much public support as it mmht have done, but there was a good attendance of athletes, chiefly from Napier and Hastings.
