EXCITING SCENES. BUCKET AS MISSILE. Brisbane, March 4. Billy Meeske (13.3) retained the heavyweight wrestling championship of Australia to-night by defeating Joe Dawson (13.0). challenger, in seven rounds. He scored two falls to one in one of the most unruly bouts ever witnessed at the Bohemia Stadium. There were times when the contestants became almost uncontrollable. Punches, kicks, bites and hair-pulling methods were frequently used by the men m countering holds applied. All incident in the fourth round might easily have resulted in an injury being sustained by one of the ringside spectators. Early in the term, in an attempt to separate the contestants, the referee became embroiled in a three-member bout. Meeske grappled with the official, and threw him over the ropes cn the tan. He quickly returned to the ring, and, m turn, with the assistance of Dawson, pitched Meeske from the arena. On regaining his feet, Meeske picked up a bucket containing a water bottle and ice, and threw it .at the official. The bucket was thrown back at Meeske, but it missed, and sailed through the ropes among the spectators. Fortunately, it caused no damage. Meanwhile the wrestlers carried on with the bout, rolling amongst pieces of ice which littered the mat. The referee and the bell restored order.
