IN FAT SHEEP EXHIBITS MB W. R. MAXWELL’S COMMENTS A hope that greater interest would be taken by farmers in the fat sheep section of future shows was expressed by the judge. Mr W. R. Maxwell, commenting on the siste and quality of the entries in this section of the Hawke's Bay A, and F. Show. Discussing the entries in the fat sheep section, Mr Maxwell said that it was verj regrettable that there was such a lack of interest in the fats When it was realised that Hawke's Bay was a district which was intimately qonnected with the fat lamb trade, it was all the more regrettable. As far as the quality of the entries was concerned. Mr Maxwell expressed himself as very satisfied. The winning sheep in particular would have provided strong competition wherever they were exhibited. The pet lambs were the best entries in the whole fat sheep section, the prize-winning exhibits being a credit to their owners. Mr .1, A. Mitchell, judge of the stud Romney rams and ewe lambs, stated that although the quality of the fleeces of the majority of the entries was h-gh. tile body conformation was somewhat lacking. “The ram lambs taking second place had as nice a fleece as could be wished for, Inti tin- conformation of tho body was not so good as the wuuung entry.
