JAPANESE EXPECTATIONS. • EXPULSION AND NEGOTIATION. (Received 11, 10.30 a.m.) Tokio, March 10. Complete expulsion of the Chinese from Jehol is hourly expected. The Legation at Peking will then negotiate to induce the withdrawal of the Chinese troops at present massed south of the Great Wall. The problem, hokever, is with whom to negotiate. International complications are feared. JAPAN’S LOSSES HEAVY. (Received 11, 10.30 a.m.) Kobe, March 10. Previous communiques describing Japan’s incredibly small losses on the war fronts are disproved by tho arrival of many wounded in Japan. The casualties are now reported to be heavy owing to the difficulties of operations and blizzards. EMBASSY SECRETARY ARRESTED. (Received 11, 10.30 a.m.) Kobe, March 10. An Embassy secretary, Mr. Crowe, and his American wife were arrested photographing a fortified zone. The newspaper “Kukomin’> states that 140 foreigners are now listed as suspects.
