AT GREAT PACE
HITLERISATION OF GERMANY
SPREAD OF THE FASCIST IDEA
CHANGES IN CONSTITUTION
Berlin, March 8. The Hitlerisation of Germany is proceeding at a great pace. Herr Hitler at a meeting of Cabinet, emphasising the importance of a uniform policy in the Reich and the Federal States, announced that a bill was being introduced into the Reichstag to alter the constitution. He told the Ministers that grandiose propagan la must be initiated to prevent the coun-
try lapsing into political apathy. It is understood that Herr Goebbels will become the head of the new Ministry of Propaganda to spread the Fascist idea.
Herr Frick reported that his measures in Hesse, Hamburg, Bremen and Luebeck were necessary because the local
Government were unable to guarantee
tranquility. The press bus been officially informed that Herr Hitler is not going to Geneva, and it is doubtful whether Germany will bo represented by a special envoy. The Government has warned foreign corrcsponlents who ‘‘persistently misrepresented the situation” that they will be expelled. Many have fled the country, and others will be placed on
two mouths’ probation. The American Ambassador has made representations to the Foreign Office regarding three cases of American citizens, two of whom were Jews, who were assaulted by Nazi storm troops. The Jews referred to are Nathaniel Wolff, who was assaulted and threatened by Nazis in a boardinghouse and advised to leave Germany, and Harry Zetter, a New York Jew, who declares the 15 Nazis attacked him and two friends when in the street.
