Farmers from almost every part of tho province, even from as far south as Woodville, were in Hastings to-day for an extraordinary meeting of shareholders of the Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ Meat Co. Groups of nodding heads ami emphatically shaken fingers were noticed at almost every street corner during the lunch hour, and apparently Ilin battle was being fought before it was begun, ns on Japanese principles.
