FAT SHEEP VALUES
AT STORTFORD LODGE SALE. SLIGHT INCREASE IN LAMB PRICES. With a larger number of fat sheep entered in the fat sheep section of Stortfortl Lodge saleyards yesterday, the prices generally were firm with th<ae of last week. The best quality lines made slightly better prices, but on a quality, basis values were constant. The quality of the offerings in the fat sheijp were not up to the usual high standards, and buyers of the best mutton and lamb had some difficulty in fill ing their demands. Compared with last week’s rates values were firm, with slightly higher prices being obtained for prime quality lines. Ewe prices ranged from 4/8 to 9/4, medium quality lines making up to 6/-. Top price was obtained for a pen of five 2-th. ewes in prime order, which made 9/4. Wethers were not well represented, and quality lines were scarce. Values were from 10/5 to 14/10, this top price being realised for a pen of eight wethers, good framed, and prime conditioned. There was a considerable number ot lambs entered, and largo drafts were quite common. Prices were firm, with a slightly better tone for prime quality offerings. Values were from 8/10 to 15/-, the best price being given for a pen of four lambs, in prime order, small nuggety sheep.
