AMERICAN NAVY

TO BE BUILT UP TO LIMITS OF LONDON TREATY. (Received 8, 11.30 a.rn.) Washington, March 7. Mr. Swanson, Secretary to tho Navy, in a statement to the press to-day said he would make every effort to build the navy up to the limits of the London Treaty as soon as conditions permitted. “My opinion is that the fleet should be built up to the treaty limits as soon as possible,” Mr Swanson said. “There will be no shift in the fleet until the situation in the Orient changes,” he said. “It will remain in the Pacific.” He favoured the development of lighter-than-air craft at reasonable expense.
