THE NEXT SESSION
REASSEMBLY IN AUGUST. Wellington, March 8. Confirmation of the belief that Parliament, on adjourning next week, will not reassemble until about August, is given by a clause in the Finance Bill (No. 4), which appeared in the House of Representatives yesterday. The clause extends the provisions for supply beyond June 30, the normal date. The Minister of Finance, Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, recalled that after that date, as Parliament was usually in session, it was customary to bring dow’n monthly imprest supply bills. “It is practically certain that on this occasion the House will not be called together again until after June 30,” said the Minister. “It is necessary, therefore, to make provision for supply until such time as the House reassembles and passes an Imprest Supply Bill. Provision is accordingly made in this Bill, extending the permanent provisions from June 30 until the end of October or until such earlier date as the clause is repealed, which vould be done at the passing of an Imprest Supply Bill next session.”
