ROAD ACCIDENTS IN BRITAIN
The Home Oftice has issued preliminary figures of road accidents during 1932 which were attributed to vehicles or horses, and resulted in death or perhaps injury. The total number of accidents in Great Britain was 181,268. of which (j. 173 resulted in the death of one or more persons. The corresponding ligures for 1931 were 181,077 and 6,199 respectively. The number of persons killed in 1932 was 6,651, and injured 206,110, against 6.691 and 202,119 respectively in 1931. Figures for the metropolitan police district show decreases in both the number of persons killed and injured. Among the cities and boroughs in England and Wales, Birmingham again had the highest total of killed or injured, namely, 6.050, an increase of approximately 360 over the previous year.
