ASTOR HEIRESS WEDS

TITANIC VICTIM'S DAUGHTER. AUSTRIAN AS SECOND HUSBAND. Princess Alice Muriel Astor Obolen sky, who obtained a divorce from her husband, Prince Serge Obolensky, a lew months ago, was quietly married at Newark, New Jersey, in January, to liannund von Hoffmannstahl, an Austrian. The Princess is one of the richest women m the world. She is the daughter of Colonel J. J. Astor, who lost his life in the Titanic disaster in 1912. Raimund von Hoffmannstahl belongs to a famous Austrian family, the most celebrated of whom was Hugh von Hoffmannstahl, the poet and dramatist, who wrote the “Rose Cavalier.” Princess Obolensky, whose mother is now Lady Ribblesdale, was very wealthy before she was 21, and on coming of age she came into further fortune of £2,600,000. When she married Prince Obolensky in 192-1 there were three ceremonies—one at the Princes Row register office, one at the chapel of the Savoy, and one at the Russian Church in Buckingham Palace Road. A son was born a year alter the wedding, .lust before the event the Prince and Princess bought from Earl Beatty “the most perfect house in London” - 11.-iimver Lodge, Regent’s Park. For a turn- they lived six months of the year m London and six in New York. In both cities they gave parties which were the talk of the town.
