CRICKET AT MELBOURNE

RAIN INTERRUPTS PLAY. VICTORIA 48 FOR ONE. Melbourne, March 5. The weather was warm but threatening for the resumption of the cricket match between England and Victoria. Runs came freely, 30 runs being scored in 30 minutes. Rigg was nicely caught at square-leg by Verity, fielding for Allen, who is suffering from a strained side. Rigg batted neatly for 34 minutes. When the score stood at one for 46 a cool change with rain set in, and at a quarter to one play was suspended. It then rained continuously, and the captains decided at 2.30 that, there would be no further play to-day. Scores:— VICTORIA. First Innings.
