DISARMAMENT CONFERENCE
COLLAPSE BEARED. LONDON OPINION. (Received 6, 10.10 a.m.) London, March 4. The "Morning Post’s" diplomatic correspondent says that it is generally admitted, even in Geneva, that unless there is some development the Disarmament Conference will shortly expire of inanition. No secret is made in informed quarters in London of the apprehension with which the Government views the possibilities of a breakdown.
, Chief among the possibilities is the dangerous and unregulated race for armaments which will ensue from the intention of Germany to rearm unless the conference reaches an agreement. The object of the Prime Minister, Mr Ramsay MacDonald’s visit to Geneva is to avert such a development, but it is unknown what new proposals, if any, the Government has decided to advance.
