The opening dinner at the Masonic Hotel, Napier, on Saturday evening was a marked success, there being about 200 guests who sat down to table. There were private parties of guests not only from Napier but from other centres as far north as Auckland, tho parties being of various sizes from four up to 12 persons. Although two sittings were required, no trouble was experienced in serving so large a number of guests, and the hotel staff is deserving of high praise for the excellent manner in which it organised the function.
