THE NELSON PARK CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP PLAY. The Nelson Park (Napier) Tennia Club championships were commenced on Saturday under ideal condition*. Ibis year the winners of the champion* ships hold the cups presented by Mr J. Vigor Brown and Miss Brown. The Mayor and Mayoress were pmsent during the afternoon and took • keen interest in the games played. The following are the results of the day’s play:— Ladies open championship.— First round: Miss 11. Hodge boat Mirs D. Ward, 7—4; Miss M. Austen beat Mi-« M. Stephens, 7—l; Miss K. Fisk beat Miss V. Morris, 7—4; Miss E. Hamlin heat Miss Brooks. 7—3. Second round: Miss Austen bent Miss Fisk, 7—l; Mis* J. McMurray beat Miss Hamlin, 9—7. Ladies’ junior championship—First round: Miss M. Johnston beat Miss P. Chisholm. B—6; Miss R. Johnston beat Miss MacQuecn, 7 —2. Men’s open championship.—First round: L. Bull bent M. A. MaeKenzle, 9 —5; N. .1. Morris bent F. A. Foote, 9—4; J.
