Mr S. E. Nielson, secretary of the New Zealand Aero Club, who is to accompany Sir Chalies pingsford Smith on his flight in the Southern Cross from Australia to New Zealand next month, sailed for Sydney by the Monowai yesterday. Mr Nielson, who is also secretary of the Taranaki Rugby Union, flew from New Plymouth to Auckland, piloted by Mr Guy Field. Sharks at Napier Bathers at the various beaches at Napier would he well advised to take every precaution against sharks, which appear to he present in these waters in large numbers. They have been seen on frequent occasions near the shore this summer, while a large one was seen in the second line of breakers off the Westshore beach yesterday morning from the aeroplane
