EMPIRE BROADCAST
THROUGH NATIONAL STATIONS. SPEECH BY THE KING. The broadcast of the special interEmpire programme will commence on Christmas Day at 2 p.m. in London (corresponding with 2 a.m. N.Z. time) and will be rebroadcast by the Y.A. stations if atmospheric conditions are favourable. The programme, which will be of an hour’s duration, will open with the 8.8. C. Chorus, singing “Land of Hope and Glory,” and wjll be followed by an announcer of the British Broadcasting Commission, who will ask representative citizens in various parts of the Empire to send greetings and good wishes to each other. So many interesting questions will be asked by tho announcer and so many interesting replies will be given by representatives of various countries, that the broadcast should be one without parallel iu history. At 2.30 a.m. (N.Z, time) His Majesty King George V. will broadcast a message from Sandringham to his subjects in all parts of tho Empire. This is the first occasion on which His Majesty will address his subjects direct, his previous broadcasts having been relayed from the Disarmament Conference, the India Round-table Conference, and other conferences of a similar nature
