WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
PUTORINO BRANCH. At the last meeting of the Putorino Women’s Institute for this year Mrs P. Lange presided over a full attendance of members. The meeting opened with the Institute song, and the usual business was transacted. Miss Milne gave an able demonstration of making chocolate paper pictures, showing both finished and unfinished articles. The beautiful effects were much admired, and a hearty vote of thanks was given to the demonstrator The sixpenny bring and buy item caused much laughter when the buyers openefl their nareels The competition lor the month was a dress costing five shillings or less, and three ladies, Mesdames Porter, Way
and Foster, scored an equal number of votes, Mrs Way being finally decided the winner by a draw. An exhibition of choice blooms by the mcmners made a beautiful array, and many varieties of summer flowers were shown. The hostesses for the day, Misses Milne and Mackenzie, served a dainty afternoon tea and a happy and successful afternoon concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
