This year hundreds of trees have been planted and soon the necessary shelter, which is absolutely essential, will prove a boon to the hundreds oi visitors to the Haumoana beach. The lagoon is in perfect condition for bathing for children and adults. A pen has been erected in the water for tiny tots so that mothers can let them bathe without a feeling of restlessness. Fishing from the beach is a fascinating pastime and several good catches of schnapper and gurnet have been reported. Haumoana is also fortunate in having two up-to-date guest-houses, and for visitors wishing to spend an enjoyable holiday this should certainly be the place. On Boxing night a plain and fancy dress ball wilt be held in the local hall. A record crowd is anticipated and everyone is assured of a good time. “free ’bus’’ will run from Hastings.
