CUSTOMS RETURNS

Wellington, Oct. 31. The net Customs for October, with the figures for last October in parentheses', were £169,716 (£192,255); beer duty, £5202 (£5119); petrol (£46,785 (£56,223); tyre tax, £1497 (£1016). For the ten months the figures were: Customs £1,714,246 (£1,869,593); beer, £49,516 (£43,163); petrol, £480,311 (£433,083); tyres, £15,484 (£21,086). THE DUNEDIN RETURNS Dunedin, Oct. 31. The Customs returns for the month ended to-day were £47,671 10/3, as against £49,147 1/4 for the corresponding period of last year. Beer duty was £24,792 9/8, as against £15,851 14/3; the motor tyre tax was £777 2/-, compared with £729 13/3 for a similar period last year; petrol tax amounted to £13,754 4/-, against £15,680 16/-. CHRISTCHURCH REVENUE Shristchurch, Oct. 31. Customs returns for October were:— Net Customs, October 1932 £58,862, October 1931 £68,307; beer duty, £6663, £8201; petrol tax, £13,613, £20,196.

For the seven months the figures were: Customs, 1932. £420,261, 1931 £397,706; beer duty, £46,484, £47,920; petrol tax, £107,805, £138,013; tyro duty, £4718, £670.
