HAWKE’S BAY SHOW WEIGHTS OF WETHEM AND LAMBS. THE PRIZE-WINNEKS. The following are the weights of wethers and lambs in the ' export classes at the recent Show which received awards. In all these classes the exhibits are to be again judged by Messrs Henry Fitter and Son, M arrival on the London market. CLASS 269. (Three shorn wethers, most suitable tor the English market, Longwool or Crossbred Longwool, Down Crow excepted.) Av. Weight,. Wght. Ist: J. E. Hope ... 67 , 68, 58 64.33 2nd: W. R. Hope ... 55, 59, 61 58.33 2nd: W. R. Maxwell 52, 58, 57 55.68 3rd: do 59,65,62 62 CLASS 271. (Three lambs, any breed or arose, under three months old, most suitable for the English market.)
In this class there was keen competition, there being no less than forty-one entries. The heaviest three lambs were the first-prize winners, weighing an average of 421bs. The lightest three weighed an average of 281bs. The total entry of 123 lamb, ia this class averaged 33.60Hb5. The average weight of last year’* exhibit in this class was 34.97, being 1 l-31b. heavier than this year’s exhibit. The five heaviest pens last year weighed 41.131b5. and this year 38.531b5. It is seldom that the awards in London agree with the awards given at the Show. PIGS FOR EXPORT. Class 316.—Pen of three porkers, any breed, most suitable for freezing and export. Average Weight.
