REMITS CARRIED. (By Telegraph—Press Association). Wellington, Oct. 27. The Farmers’ Union executive carried Kie following remits:— That the Premier and Minister of Native Affairs be approached and urged that all tenants on native leasehold properties be treated in a similar manner to lessees on European lands. That an emphatic protest be made to the Native Trustee against the excessive costs of renewals of leases recently issued in respect to lands on native reserves. That the Government be asked to reinstate the 12J per cent, rebate on county rates. That the principle of voting which applies to county councils apply also to power board elections. That with regard to reducing land valuations, the Government be asked to pass legislation permitting percentage reduction on the last valuation of the county. Remits were also carried protesting against the reported request of the chambers of commerce to the Government to deprive meat and dairy boards of the rights whereby they control shipping and marketing and protesting against the railway concession rate on butter for distances from 175 to 340 miles being used e...opt for export butter.
