BIBLE CLASS RALLY

LABOUR DAY GATHERING HAWKE’S BAY GROUPS MEET. RESULTS OF SPORTS EVENTS. The Hawke’s Bay Presbyterian Bible Class Labour Day rally was, by the kind permission of the A and P. Society, held at the Show Grounds, Tomoana. Although the weather was showery it did not stop the Bible Class members from attending, and by 10.15 a.m. some 235 members, representing the following classes, had gathered together:—Takapau, Hatuma, Waipukurau, Waipawa, Norsewood, Napier, Hastings, Havelock North,, Clive, Napier South, Port Ahuriri, Taradale, Kote-maori-Putorino. At 10.30 a.m. the members gathered on the grandstand for the morning service, the chairman being the Rev. A. McLean, Waipukurau. The address was given by the Rev. J. W. Martin, Taradale, who took as his text the B.C. Badge. All present listened with keen interest to this inspiring address. During the service the president of the Hawke’s Bay Bible Classes’ District Committee, the Rev. D. U. A. Shaw, extended a hearty welcome to the visiting members. After the service the Rev. J. W. Martin entertained all with his coi'" , i’tina until lunch time. During the afternoon sports for the District. Banner and the Taradale individual sports cup were held. The sports committee was composed of:—Supervisor, Rev. D. J. A. Shaw (Hastings); judges, Rev. E. Way (Putorino), Rev. J. M. Bates (Takapau), Mr W. W. Jamieson (Waipukurau); starter, Rev. A. McLean (Waipukurau); announcer, Mr J. Drummond (Hastings). Runner-up: Miss Wood (Hastings), 19 points. At the conclusion of the sports late afternoon tea was served, and the president congratulated everyone ‘on the fine sporting spirit shown throughout the afternoon, and then presented the banner and cup.
