LONDON WOOL SALES PRICES REMAIN FIRM. 5 TO 15 PER CENT. ADVANCE ON JULY. (United Frees Association—By CableCopyright.) (Received 14, 12.30 p.m.) London, October 13. At the wool sates (?278 bales were offered, including 1864 New Zealand, and about 4647 were sold. There was a miscellaneous offering, with a good general demand, and late rates were maintained. New Zealand prices: Greasy merino, ulynnwye, top 9d, average Bid; halfbred lambs slipe, top Hid, average 9Jd. The series closed firm. Prices, compared with July closing, were; Merinos, greasy, 10 per cent, higher, scoured 5 to 1 per cent, higher; short pieces, 10 to 15 per cent, higher. Crossbreds, fine, 5 per cent, higher; medium coarse, 7} to 10 per cent, higher; slipes, 10 to 15 per cent, higher. The total catalogued was 178,733 bales. Sold to the home trade 71,000; to the Continent 82,000; held over 54,000. The total Australian sold was 68,000 bales, and New Zealand 65,500. BRADFORD QUOTATIONS. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house under date 13th. inst.: — There is good all round competition. As compared with last sales’ closing rates, prices are higher id per lb. for Merino, and crossbred lambs, medium greasy crossbred, coarse greasy crossbred, coarse scoured crossbred and medium scoured crossbred; higher id to Id per lb. for greasy Merino, coarse crossbred slipe, medium crossbred slipe; higher Id to lid per lb. for scoured Merino, fine scoured crossbred, fine crossbred slipe; higher Id per lb. for fine greasy crossbred. The sales closed firmly today. Williams and Kettle, report:—The sixth series of London sales closed yesterday the 13th inst. The market is firm with the tendency of values in sellers’, favour, competition being well sustained to the end. As compared with prices ruling at the close of last series on July 20, halfbred wools have advanced }d to Jd per lb.; fine and medium crossbreds advanced }d per lb. and coarse crossbred id to }d per lb. Compared with last London sales’ closing rates: Greasy menno, wool suitable for the Continent, advanced 10 per cent.; greasy Merino, other descriptions, advanced 5 per cent; scoured Merino, except inferior descriptions, advanced 5 to 7} per cent.; scoured Merino, inferior, market shows no change; scoured Merino, skin wool, advanced 10 per cent.; crossbred greasy, comeback and fine, advanced 10 to 15 per cent.; crossbred greasy, coarse, advanced 10 per cent.; crossbred scoured fine advanced sto 10 per cent.; crossbred scoured, other descriptions, par to 5 per cent, advance; slipe fine crossbred advanced 10 to' 15 per cent.; slipe crossbred, other descriptions, advanced 3 to 10 per cent.
