ALTITUDE RECORD

BRITISH AIRMAN’B ACHIEVEMENT. OFFICIAL RECOGNITION. Rugby, Oct. 10. The International Federation of Aeronautics has confirmed the world altitude record for aeroplanes established recently by Captain Unwins, well-known British airman, in a Vickers Vespa biplane with a Bristol Pegasus engine. Captain Unwins reached about eight and a half miles, beating the United States record by 800 feet. Lord Londonderry, on behalf of the Air Council, in a congratulatory message to Captain Unwins, says that the success is a tribute to Captain Unwins’ skill and the efficiency of the British aircraft and engine.
