ADMIRALTY RETIREMENTS
FACILITATING PROMOTIONS. (United Press Association—By CableCopyright.) (Received 12, 12.55 p.m.) London, Oct. 11. Admiral Brand has been retired at his own request to facilitate promotion, resulting in various flag appointments, including Vice-Admiral Hall Thompson, who is promoted admiral. It is the biggest post-war list of retirements. Fourteen captains have been promoted, of whom twelve are being retired, including several famous war-time figures. The retirements are due to the Admiralty's desire to lower the age at which a captain may reach flag rank
