Catching sight of danger he applied the brakes promptly, but the float struck the train, which was also being braked, and suffered damage in front. The driver escaped injury, as also did the horses. They were: Gay Court, Araios and Late Jest. They soon settled down after their fright, apparently none the worse for the shaking. The trainers, H. T. Benge and G. A. Palmer, were also on the float.
