HASTINGS HARRIER CLUB
OFFICIAL CLOSING FIELD DAY. PROGRAMME FOR TO-MORROW. Although to-morrow will not be the last outing of the season for the Hastings Harrier Club, it is nevertheless being recognised as the official closing as far as attendance marks are concerned. To celebrate the occasion, the club is holding a field day at the Hastings racecourse, and a well-drawn-up programme will be presented. The public are invited to attend. The sports programme, which will commence at 2.15 sharp, is as follows, the events being held in the order given: 100 yards, 200 yards, one lap, putting the shot, ladies’ race 75 yards, 440 yards, officers’ marathon 50 or 75 yards, three laps of racecourse, tug-o’-war, half mile, relav race one lap. The three-lap race included in the programme will be held at 3.30 p.m. sharp irrespective of whether it will fall in the given order or not. After the programme the harriers will be entertained to afternoon tea in St. Andrew’s Hall by the club patron, the Rev. D. J. A. Shaw.
Members are specially requested to be ready for the first event at 2.15 sharp, as the programme will start then so that there will bo ample time to complete it early. On the following Saturday the club will hold a road race (relay) from Hastings to Napier and back so as to be in good form for the run on Labour Day week-end from Marton to Wanganui. Hastings is in the fortunate position of being able to enter a team for this contest.
