FATAL ACCIDENT

DEATH OF CLIVE RESIDENT. KNOCKED OVER BY CAR. As a result of severe injuries sustained through being knocked down by a motor car driven by Mr. John Fear, of Willowpark road, Hastings, on the Olive road yesterday, William John Cushing, of Clive, passed away at the Napier Hospital to-day.

It appears that the late Mr Cushing was on a visit to his mother-in-law’s residence when the accident occurred. He alighted from a car and was about to cross the road when he was struck by Mr Fear’s car and thrown heavily ■e road. Mr Cushing was removed to the Napier P spital, but in spite of careful medical attention, he failed to recover and passed away about 10 o’clock this morning. He leaves a widow, three daughters and two sons, all of whom are grown up and reside in Clive, to whom the greatest sympathy will be extended.
