SOCCER FOOTBALL
BRITISH TEAM TO VISIT AUSTRALIA.
TRIP TO N.Z. 'PROPOSED Wellington, Oct. 4. A letter from the Australian Football Association, read at to-night’s meeting of the New Zealand association, intimated that Australia had invited an English and Scottish Soccer team to visit Australia next year. The Australian association asked New Zealand to consider inviting the team to visit the Dominion for a period including four playing Saturdays, involving a delay in the visit of the New Zealand team to Australia in 1934. Australia would require n guarantee of £3OO and passenger money from Sydney to New Zealand and all commitments in the Dominion. It was decided to write to Australia asking if the £3OO included the wages of the professional players while in the Dominion. If the finance necessary for the proposal were within reach New Zealand would co-operate.
The lettei was referred to the finance committee for a report.
