ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
BLIND MAN KNOCKED DOWN BY TRAM. SUCCUMBS TO INJURIES. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Oct. 5. A blind man, Mr. William Buckley, was knocked down by a tram in Newmarket last evening and died in hospital this morning. Mr. Buckley was employed at the Blind Institute and also was a prominent Salvationist and was going to a religious meeting when knocked down. Mr. Ernest August High saw Buckley about to cross the street and offered to guide him. Both were knocked down and Mr. High was also taken to hospital but his condition is not serious. In a serious accident nt the Tuai Power House yesterday, an employee, G. Connors, came in contact with a live wire and was terribly burned. He was rushed to Wairoa Hospital by ambulance, and is in a dangerous •Ut*.
