RIFLE SHELLS USEFUL
TERMINALS AND CONNECTORS. Discharged ,32-calibre rifle shells, especially the long type, are useful as termin-ls and connectors for wires. They do not need soldering, and are much more secure than the usual around the terminal screw. Cut off the eap with a pair of pliers, open up the shell again sufficiently to insert the wire, which should be well spread out, and pinch the cartridge tightly on to it. A hole is then drilled throug the flattened end sufficiently large for the terminal screw to pass through. In the ease of terminals in which the point of a screw is screwed dotvn on the wire, fit a cartridge over the end of the wire in the same way, and then fold it over and press together with the pliers until it will pass into the hole. This will obviate trouble often experienced due to the end of the screw cutting through the wires if tightened down hard enough to clamp them securely. When two wires are to be joined a cartridge can be slipped over them, after they have been twisted together, and squeezed and folded securely. This gives almost the security and contact effected by soldering.
