VETERANS' TOURNAMENT. FIRST ROUND OF CHAMPIONSHIP By Telegraph—Press Association. Rotorua, Aug. 31. The New Zealand veterans’ golf tournament was resumed this morning in perfect conditions. In the first round of the Cup Lusk met Worthington, of the focal club. The Aucklander played perfect golf throughout, his putting and approaches giving him the advantage. He returned a gross score of 70. First round results:— Veterans’ Cup: A. W. Downer beat W. Pavitt, 5 and 4; H. B. Lusk beat O H. C. Worthington, and 3; F. Trice beat W. (A Callaghan, 2 and 11; E. M. Hutchinson beat Rev. W. H. Speer, 2 and 1; R. Phelan beat L. H. Rodgers, 4 and 3; <O. H. Redhead beat H. ML Blundell, 3 and 1; L. H. Scott beat H. Gillies, 6 and 4. Secretary’s Trophy: R. J. Hamilton beat G. Gordon, 3 and 2; T. Pavitt beat J. A. MacDougall at the twentieth ; H. P. Butts beat H. J. Ryde, 2 up; J. M. McEwan beat J. Craig, 5 and 3; W. McGillivray beat T. Hogg, 2 and 1; F. W. Wilkie beat T. Hallett, 7 and 6; H. J. Smith beat J. M. Somerville, 5 and 4; C. Kusabs beat H. Horton, 3 and 2.
