HASTINGS CENTRAL SCHOOL

COMMITTEE MEETING. BALL ARRANGEMENTS. The usual monthly meeting, of the Hastings Central School Committee was held in the schoolroom on Tuesday evening, when Mr A. D. Ross presided over Messrs J. Wallace, E Jenkinson, B Sanders, C. Hopkins, h . S. Thomas (secretary) and J. Banks (headmaster). Mr J W Shaw granted leave of absence.

Matters in connection with the school ball, which is being held in the Assembly Hall on Friday, September y. were deal twith. Mr Banks offered to carry on with the distribution of tickets and supper papers, his offer bem fc accepted. It was decided to make the ball the occasion of the farewell and presentation to Mr Banks. A letter of appreciation is to be sent to Mr G. O’Leary for his past scriices on the committee. Mr Banks, on the eve of his retirement as headmaster, thanked the chairman and his committee for the help and assistance given him during his term of office. Mr A. Ross, acting-chairman, on behalf of the committee, thanked Mr Banks for his kind remarks and wished both Mr and Mrs Banks every happiness in the future.

An offer by Mr Banks to loan his lantern and slides for the use of the school, w;as accepted by the committee.
