CABINET’S SHORT RESPITE

MR FORBES TO VISIT NORTH. MINISTERS TO MAKE OFFICIAL VISITS.. Wellington, Aug. 31. The Prime Minister, accompanied by the Minister of Education (the Hon, R. Masters), will leave Wellington for Auckland to-morrow evening for the purpose of investigating the state of various secondary industries in that city and also inspecting work that has been carried out during the past year on the native land development block at Waiuku. Mr Forbes said that ho would be awav until about next Tuesday or Wednesday. He said he had recently inspected factories at Wellington and Christchurch, and he had promised some time ago to go to Auckland for the same purpose. Cabinet’s work in preparation for the session was well forward, and he was taking the opportunity of going to Auckland, which he had not visited since the general election. Cabinet meetings will be suspended during his absence. Other Ministers will take advantage of the respite to make official visits to various parts of the country. Tho Hon. A Hamilton attended the football match between the Post and Telegraph and Police Departments today. He left for the south this evening and will return to Wellington early next week.

The Hon. E. A. Ransom will attend the annual meeting ofthe Palmerston North Chamber of Commerce to-mor-row evening. The Hon. C. E. Macmillan will leave, for Tauranga on Friday, returning to Wellington early next week.
