COMING-OF-AGE PARTY
A very successful social evening was held in the Baptist schoolroom on Wednesday last to celebrate the coming of age of Miss Gwendoline Sheffield, only daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Sheffield, of Clive. Many interesting games .were indulged in, interspersed with musical and elocutionary items, particularly pleasing being the orchestral items by Mrs F. C. Wilkinson and family, and flute solos by Mr David Whisker. The guest of the evening, who looked charming in a dress of salmon pink georgette, and a black coatee, was presented with a large golden key decorated with pink ribbon. A dainty supper was provided after which the birthday cake was distributed among the guests. Many beautiful and useful presents were received.
About 70 persons were in attendance included the following:—Mr and Mrs J. Sheffield, Mr and Mrs F. Sheffield, Pastor and Mrs Butz, Mrs Roil and Miss Olive Roil, Mrs F. C. Wilkinson, Miss Julia Wilkinson, Mrs A. L. Tasker,and Miss Edna Tasker, Mr and Mrs J. Christiansen, Mrs J. F. Jones, Mrs W. M. Will, Mr and Mrs Fred Newrick, and Misses J. and M. Newrick, Mr and Mrs J. Burnett, Mr and Mrs J. Gibb, Mr and Mrs P. Gibb, Mr and Mrs A. F. Wishart, Mr Geo. Graham, Mrs F. Whisker and Mr David Whisker, Mr Hunt. Mr W. Thomas, Mrs Svmons and Miss M. Symons, Mrs Edwards, Mr A. Tasker, Mr A. Newrick, Air O, Wilkinson, Miss K. Clay, Miss Ellen Burke, Miss C. Hirst, Mr A. Grudenoff, Misses Smith (4), Miss E. Hinder, Mrs Blake and many others. A number of congratulatory messages were received from friends who were unavoidably absent, including a telegram from Mr C. H. ■ Sheffield (brother), of Gisborne.
