CHURCH SERVICES
At St. Matthew’s Church, Hastings, on Sunday, there will be celebrations of Holy Communion at 8 a.m. and also at 9.30 a.m. with hymns and short address. Mattins and sermon will be at 11 a.m., Holy Baptism at 3 p.m., and the usual evensong, with sermon, at 7 p.m., when the choir will sing Gounod’s anthem, “Come Unto Me.” Evening services will also be held at 7 p.m. at St. Barnabas’, Parkvale, and at the Mahora School, and the fortnightly afternoon service at 2 p.m. at Twyford School. The service at the hospital will be at 6 p.m.
The services in St. Andrew’s Church to-morrow will be conducted by the Rev. D. J. A. Shaw. The Loyal Orange Lodge will parade at the morning service and in the evening the subject of the address will be: “Is Life Attractive Enough ■ for Yotfflg People Today 1” Relay service at St. John’s Hall, Mahora, at 7 p.m. The church needs help as well as criticism.
At the Hastings Methodist Church (corner Heretaunga and Hastings streets) to-morrow’s services will be conducted by the Rev. A. H. 'Scriven. In the morning the sermon subject will be “The Second Mile” and in the evening “Drifting from God.” The choir will render the anthems, “O Ye that Love the Lord,” and “The Lord is My Shepherd.” At 6.30 p.m. there will be a community singing of well known hymns. The Sunday School and Bible Classes meet at 2.30 p.m. The services in the Havelock North Presbyterian Church will be conducted by the Rev. R. Waugh at Havelock morning and evening, and Clive in the afternoon. The Rev. J. K. Archer will be the preacher at the Hastings Baptist Church, Karamu road south, to-morw-row evening Mr. Archer’s subject is entitled “The Cure for the Worlds Present Ills.” The preacher in the morning will be the Rev. E. Nicholls. The subject of the address in the United Hall, Hastings, on Sunday night will be, “The Introduction and Abolition of Sin, Disease, and Death, Seripturally Considered and Contrasted with fundamental errors of ‘Christian Science.’ ” Opportunity for question will be given.
