WEDDING

WHITTLE—CORBIN. A very pretty wedding was solemnised at St. Matthew’s Church, Hastings, on Wednesday last, when Ethel Doris, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. A. Corbin, of St. George’s road, Hastings, was married to Joseph, youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. T. Whittle, Greenmeadows, Hawke’s Bay. The Rev. H. Speight officiated. The .bride, who was escorted by her father, was wearing a very charming frock of white lace and georgette made with a closely fitting bodice and full skir.t beautifully hand worked in a lovers’ knot design. A veil of silk tulle was caught with orange blossoms, and a very pretty bouquet of hothouse flowers was carried. Miss Eileen Mcßennie, chief bridesmaid, and Miss Helen Mcßennie (nieces of the bridegroom) both looked very picturesque in long frocks of apple green georgette made with closely fitting bodies and fully flared skirts, with becoming spring straw hats of the same shade. Very sweet bouquets of spring blooms were carried. Mr. G. Corbin, brother of the bride, was best man and Mr. A. Corbin groomsman. After tho ceremony the wedding breakfast was hold at the “Solphast” tea rooms, which had been very attractively decorated with freesias and spring bulbs. At the bridal table stood a handsome three-tiered cake, which was cut by the bride, and the usual toasts were honoured. About 60 guests were present who were received by Mrs. Corbin, mother of the bride, her smart frock being of black crepe-dc-chino re-

lieved with beige, worn with a beige hat.

The happy couple left later by car for the north, the bride wearing a very becoming ensemble of navy blue crepe-de-chine, with a hat and shoos to tone. Many handsome presents were given to the bride and bridegroom. The bride gave the groom a handsome sot of brushes and the groom’s present to the bride was a solid leather travelling case. Very dainty green necklets and car-rings were presented to tho bridesmaids by the bridegroom.
