"A grave national warning” to the Government and people of Australia has been issued by the Graziers' Association of New South Wales, which in letters to the Hon. J. A. Lyons and the Hon. B. S. Stevens, declares that tho greatest primary industry of the State is already disintegrating and borders on financial collapse. "Recovery may still be possible,” the association states, "but only by bold, drastic and swift action by our national leaders—action which must be complete before the wool export season opens on August 29.” WOOL COMMITTEE APPOINTED The Federal Cabinet, at a meetiug, decided upon tho appointment of an expert committee to carry out a full investigation into thq wool industry in Australia with a view to determining what steps are necessary to bring about rehabilitation of the ’ industry. Mr. Lyons, in making the announcement, said that the committee, in all probability, would comprise seven members. The personnal is not yet complete.
The decision of Cabinet followed an interview which Mr. Lyons had with Sir Graham Waddell, president of the Woolgrowers’ Council in Sydney, in the course of which Sir Graham pointed out the urgent necessity for assistance being provided in order to place the wool industry on a basis which would be profitable to the grower.
