AERO PAGEANTS

INTER-CLUB COMPETITIONS AMENDED CUP CONDITIONS. AMENDED RULES ADOPTED. Wellington, July 7. Amended rules for inter-club cup competitions were adopted by the New Zealand Aero Club this evening. All competing machines must now be standard light aeroplanes belonging to the club making the entry, the only modification permitted being streamlining over the front of the cockpit, with cover, slotted wings not being compulsory. Professional pilots are ineligible, but not B pilots who have earned money for their clubs. The Wigram Cup is to be awarded to the club assessing most points on the following championship events at one of the official pageants —All transport race, open to B pilots or endorsed pilots. If no B pilots are available a senior landing competition for similar grades of pilots and junior landing competition for endorsed A pilots and an aerobatic competition open to B or endorsed A pilots.

The Boys Cup is to be awarded to club-trained pilots, otic pilot from each club to make for two or three land, ings, the winner to be the competitor procuring the best average.

Competitors for the Cory Wright Cup are required to fly a triangular course from the aerodrome, to fly on given placings for 10 minutes at 75 m.p.h., then turn 90 degrees, fly for ten minutes and then return to the aerodrome. Fifty per cent, of the marks allotted would be for the course taken and the working-out of bearings, and the remainder for the subject matter of a reconnaissance report. Two officers of the permanent Ah Force would be judges. In the ease of the “Herald” Cup the club will respectfully suggest to the donors that it be awarded for the best formation flight of three machines by any club piloted by club-trained pilots. Various manoeuvres would ba carried out.

All the major clubs in the Dominion with the exception of Southland were represented at the meeting. In reply to the suggestion of Mr G M. Spence, president of the New Zealand Club, to the Minister of Defence, that he would consider restoring the subsidy granted to clubs to at least the former figure of £5OO per annum, the Ministed said that the proposals could not be considered at the present time.
